Research Genre Production
Students will be able to produce writing that demonstrates their ability to navigate choices and constraints in a variety of public and/or academic research genres that matter to specific communities.
A large component of writing is making clever choices to ensure the proper message or research is portrayed. Within my draft of the Inquiry Proposal, I was able to make decisions to ensure the information I was putting forth was competent, accurate, and intriguing. Additionally, I had the opportunity to tie in my research to present a compelling paper.
Ensuring that the information being displayed within the Inquiry Proposal was valuable meant choosing the appropriate words and research to keep the reader intrigued. If there is too much information that drifts from the main point of the research, then the reader can often feel lost or lose all interest in the writing. It also distracts from the main topic of the writing and hurts the value of word choice, composition, and research production within the paper.
I also had to make thoughtful decisions about information that should not be included. Along with my research topic there is a great deal of conspiracy theories that are not applicable in a research paper. With these conspiracy theories the entire validity of my paper can be affected and lead to a mediocre or even hurtful outcome. Additionally too little information can still leave the reader confused and wanting more. It can be to hard to keep up if there is not enough information backing my topic.
Overall, the Inquiry Proposal set the scene for me to put my research and words into action in a compelling but also effective start to my research paper. Without this, allowing for a competent and put together paper would be difficult, and the application of research genre production would be minimal.

Another assignment that but this student learning outcome into action was the Research deliverable. This was the final major writing assignment and allowed me to truly put together all my research in the most effective and concise way as possible. I had to make choices based on the proper evidence to include as well as provide sufficient detail to prove credibility and accuracy. This assignment was a great way to showcase what I have learned and apply it in a real setting.
